Boards should not see themselves as removed from the organisation at large – they are operating in more of a 'glasshouse' than they might realise. Boards have a great opportunity to support the development of teams and the culture of their organisations.

But through big egos, poor relationships and a lack of reflection on their own performance, board conduct and culture can become a toxic contagion. Boards need to be accountable for building their culture.
